San Sebastián Film Festival announces its programme: 200 films and 15 sections
The Donostia competition, one of five category-A film festivals in the world, presents an edition with record international participation and an Official Section of 16 films in competition.
72 editions of cinema in the capital of good taste
The 72nd edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival fills the city for ten days each September with screenings, red carpets and the awarding of the Golden and Silver Shells.
This edition's sections
- Official Section — 16 feature films from 14 countries competing for the Golden Shell
- Horizontes Latinos — contemporary Latin American cinema, the most international section
- Zabaltegi-Tabakalera — risk-taking proposals and emerging voices in the converted industrial space
- Retrospectives, tributes and the Donostia Award to two international figures of the seventh art
The festival venues
The festival distributes its screenings across three main spaces:
- Teatro Victoria Eugenia — the most elegant galas and red carpets
- Kursaal — the grand modernist auditorium facing the Cantabrian Sea
- Tabakalera — the cultural centre in the former tobacco factory
How to get tickets
Official Section tickets sell out in minutes from the opening of online sales. Press accreditation gives priority access but also requires prior registration. For the general public, afternoon passes at the Kursaal are the most accessible option. More information at sansebastianfestival.com.
