New Basque design shop opens in the Old Town with local artisan collections
A new multi-brand space in the historic centre champions local design with ceramic, jewellery and textile pieces made by craftspeople from Gipuzkoa, Bizkaia and Álava.
Basque design finds its showcase in the Old Town
In the heart of Donostia's Old Town, between Calle 31 de Agosto and La Bretxa market, Artisans Eus has just opened — a new multi-brand Basque design shop.
The project behind the shop
The project was born of three artisan friends who wanted a physical showcase for their creations and those of other regional producers. Two years of work and more than 20 participating craftspeople later, the shop opens with the city's largest collection of artisan Basque design:
- Ceramics from Durango — functional and decorative pieces in northern clay
- Jewellery with Basque motifs — lauburus, basoak and txalapartas in sterling silver from a Tolosa workshop
- Embroidered textiles from a women's collective in Bergara — unique pieces using traditional technique
- Artisan paper and stationery from a family workshop in Azpeitia
More than a shop: a cultural space
At weekends from 11:00 to 13:00, the shop hosts two-hour participatory workshops where customers can try out each artisan's techniques. Ceramics, jewellery and embroidery in an intimate setting with a maximum of 8 participants. Bookings at artisanseus.com.
